How to Make the Perfect Moka Pot Coffee | Roasting Party Guide

How to Make the Perfect Moka Pot Coffee | Roasting Party Guide

Hey Party People, today we're going to show you how to make the perfect moka pot coffee at home. The moka pot, also known as a stovetop espresso maker, has a few tricks to ensure your brew is spot-on every time. Let’s dive in.

The Essentials

  1. Water: Use about 150 grams of water, filling up to just below the valve. The key is to use water that's already hot. This minimizes the time on the stove and helps prevent over-extraction and bitterness.

  2. Coffee: For the 150 grams of water, you’ll need 15 grams of coffee. Use a grind that's slightly coarser than espresso. Avoid packing the coffee too densely; a gentle tap to level it out will do. No need to tamp or compress it.

Brewing Tips

  • Assembly: The bottom of the moka pot gets quite hot. It’s a good idea to use a cloth to handle it when screwing it together, just to avoid burns. But hey, if you’re tough and don’t mind a little heat, you can skip it.

  • Brewing: Place the moka pot on the stove with the lid open. This allows you to see the extraction process. When the coffee starts flowing and you reach about halfway through, switch off the heat. This helps prevent bitterness and over-extraction.

Enjoy your perfectly brewed moka pot coffee!
