Top 5 General Coffee Mistakes | Roasting Party

Top 5 General Coffee Mistakes | Roasting Party

Hey, what’s up, guys? Today, we’re diving into the five biggest mistakes we often make when brewing coffee.

Mistake number one: Water quality. We’ve mentioned this before, but it’s crucial—coffee is mostly water, so if your water quality is off, your coffee will be too. Bad water equals bad coffee, no way around it.

Mistake number two: Incorrect water temperature. If your water is too hot, you'll end up with bitter coffee; too cold, and it’ll be flat and lifeless. Nailing the temperature is key to getting that perfect extraction.

Mistake number three: Using stale or old coffee. If you’re grinding your beans way in advance or brewing from a bag that’s been sitting around for a month, you’re in for a disappointment. Freshness is everything—stale coffee just doesn’t have the flavor.

Mistake number four: Dirty equipment. If your gear isn’t clean, it’s going to show in the cup. No one enjoys that lingering dirty taste, so keep everything spotless.

Mistake number five: Not following your recipe. Consistency is king. Make sure you’re measuring your dosage, yield, and brewing time correctly. The grind size, whether coarse or fine, plays a huge role here too.

Avoid these common pitfalls, and you’ll be well on your way to a better cup every time. See you next time!
